Penelope Bourbon Toasted Series explores new and unique expressions of their signature four grain straight bourbon whiskey. After full maturation in charred new American oak barrels, they finish Penelope Bourbon™ Small Batch Barrel Strength in a new, freshly toasted barrel. Each barrel is unique and different - making each bottle distinct with its own flavor profile. The barrels selected for this series are the best their inventory has to offer and go through an extensive hand-selection process.

Whisky Advocate - The nose is fragrant with herbs and florals, and is a bit medicinal. Licorice is the star of the show, but there are subtle notes of rose water and bubble gum, and the faintest hint of banana. Fans of licorice (or Fernet Branca) will enjoy the ride, as the palate delivers a potent licorice punch that never quite lets up. Its joined by a spicy cinnamon kick, as well as a tart bite of cherry. Unsurprisingly, licorice carries this one home, joined by a gentle smack of spearmint.
